There are many different ways to rank life insurance companies and different criteria to use.

In the insurance  industry, life insurance companies are often rated by total “admitted assets.”
That means how much money the life insurance companies have.

Another way to rank life insurance carriers would be the number of individual life insurance policies "In Force"

There are other ways to rank insurance carriers.  However, whether a life insurance company is the biggest, or has the most life insurance policies doesn’t make any difference when a claim is filed on your life insurance policy.

All life insurance companies and the insurance commissioners that regulate them are committed to their ability to pay that death benefit when a claim is made on your policy.

That is the reason that you buy life insurance, so that a death benefit is paid upon the death of the insured person.

Each year the III.org (Insurance Information Institute) issues a list of the top ten life insurance companies by number of individual life insurance policies issued from the previous year.
