Some of the most common reasons why life insurance is denied may include:

1. You applied for a life insurance policy for which you do not qualify due to a medical condition, being overweight or underweight per the policy guidelines, or are out of the age limits of the policy. If you are too old, you may not qualify, or if you are overweight, you may not meet the insurer's underwriting guidelines for acceptance.

2. You are not a US citizen or do not have a green card or work visa.

3. You do not have current employment, or any income coming in and do not qualify for the face amount of life insurance for which you applied. Insurer's consider your finances when you apply for life insurance and may only allow you to buy a amount of life insurance that is so many times your annual income. If you have no income, they may not offer coverage.

4. Your doctor did not provide the medical records requested by the underwriter. Life insurance companies do contact your doctor to review your medical history when determining if you qualify for life insurance. They want to check your health history and find out if you have any health problems.

5. Your blood test showed very high glucose or cholesterol or elevated blood pressure. The medical exam for life insurance may include taking a blood sample, urine sample, and/or swab from your mouth to test for health issues.

Many declines for life insurance coverage may be avoidable with the right life insurance company.
