Life insurance companies usually require you to take a physical exam if you want to purchase a policy.

However, if it is a small amount of life insurance under $50,000, or you are younger than age 30, you usually won't have to take a medical exam.

No physical life insurance means you may apply for and get approved for life insurance coverage and not have to take any physical exam, blood, urine or nicotine testing. You answer some questions about your health, and the insurer makes a decision about approving you for coverage based on your answers, and any health records available.

Some no physical life insurance plans may offer up to $350,000 of life insurance with no physical exam. And, if you are approved, you may start your life insurance policy the same day you apply.

But, these plans usually cost more than life insurance that does require a physical exam.
